If you are a new user of Paper, you don't need to create a Paper account.
Accounts in Paper 4 are only used for restoring legacy backups. If you used Paper 2.4 or later, you had the option to create a backup of your device's content when signed in with your account. If you need to download that content, you can do so in Paper 4.
Go to Settings > Tips & Support > Sign in to your Paper account
Go to Settings > Tips & Support > Restore Content from Backups
Select a restore point to add content to Paper 4
The Paper 2 and 3 backup service has been replaced in Paper 4 with Journal Sync.
We use this term to refer to users who used Paper before the release of Paper 4.
If you have a Paper account that was created before Nov. 30th, 2017, we can verify that you are a Legacy customer. Please contact via this form at WeTransfer.

Accounts are required to keep all your ideas safe and backed up. A future version of Paper will allow you to sync your ideas across all your devices.
Login requires an active internet connection to recognize an existing account. If you're online and you're in the Account Creation flow, double check that you're using the email address you associated with your account.
When you first create your account you'll receive a welcome email from us with a link to verify your email address. Verifying your email address ensures that you'll be able to reset your password if you get signed out of your account and can't remember your password.
